3. Why high quality FRP sheets do not brittle?

A high quality FRP sheets not only requires good quality anti UV film and resin systems, solidify degree also pay an important role in obtaining the best FRP. In clinical test, Alsynite FRP sheets obtains an outstanding 99% of solidify degree. Thus, the flexural strength and the exceptional structure of fiberglass had enabled our products to withstand the harshest UV ray, water moisture and corrosion. Due to the outstanding solidify degree, the tensile strength; shear strength and compressive strength of our products are also increases tremendously.

As a construction material, Alysnite FRP sheets are built with exceptional flexural strength and shear strength to minimize the shape transformation when it is under pressure. This will optimize the water resistance function of sealing washer to prevent leakage.

Alsynite FRP sheets is not meant to be step on during the installation process. Guidelines are provided for handling and installation to promote the correct way of storing, handling and installing of the FRP sheets. 4. What is the reaction of FRP sheets in various temperature conditions?

The heat distortion temperature of FRP sheets is between 180°C ~ 200°C, Alsynite FRP sheets functions normally within the desire temperature. In any situation where the temperature is not within the range, FRP sheets are still able to perform, but this will reduce the overall lifetime of the products.

A temperature raise in FRP sheets will not transforms the outlook before it reach 150°C. The FRP sheets will only begin to soften and melt when the temperature reach 170°C and beyond.

When the temperature reaches 200°C, colour change and small bubble can be noticed on the FRP sheets. From 400°C onwards, the resin film will start to change to a brownish colour and will eventually turn to black when it reaches 600°C. Any further will fully oxidize the FRP sheets and turns to ashes.

FRP sheets is consider as a flammable material, normal smoke temperature in a fire will not caused any harm to it. If the fire source is near the FRP sheets, it will become flammable and burn swiftly to release smoke trapped in the building.

Anti-flammable FRP sheets will yield the same result as the general FRP grade when it is not directly being burn, but it will turn yellowish more quickly. When ALSYNITE 50HTH is in direct contact with a fire source, it will burn slowly and died out quickly when the fire source is removed. ALSYNITE 50FR is more reluctant to burn when in contact in fire and died out even faster when the fire is put off.

5. Why use flammable FRP sheets?

In the event of a fire, poisonous smoke is often more deadly than the fire itself. FRP sheets will burn quickly when in contact of fire; the hole made by the burn out FRP sheets will act as a smoke extraction to release the poisonous smoke and save lives within the building. To compliment the safety measure, FRP sheets is solidified so that there will be no dripping from a burning FRP sheet.

6. Where does anti-flammable FRP commonly used? What are the key features?

Anti-flammable FRP sheets are commonly used in steel mill or any place which have high temperature furnace and fire point.

Alsynite produced 2 kinds of anti-flammable FRP sheets, the ALSYNITE 50FR and ALSYNITE 25HTH. These anti-flammable FRP sheets are coated with special Fire Retardant Resin systems. Others local manufacturers uses artificial anti-flammable catalyst agent mixing with the normal resin to produce their anti-flammable FRP sheets, but this will never surpass the utmost quality in our ALSYNITE 50FR and ALSYNITE 25HTH.

A normal anti –flammable FRP sheets will have lower anti-aging property which will made it to turn yellowish in much shorter period compare to others flammable FRP sheets. The yellowish will turn brownish over time, but ALSYNITE 50FR and ALSYNITE 25HTH is reinforced with special UV protection material to prolonged its clarity and light transmission rate, making it last much longer than others anti-flammable FRP sheets.

Although anti-flammable FRP sheets seems to turn yellowish much faster, but this will not affect the usage and overall product lifetime. The flexural strength and other properties maintains at the highest standard even it become yellowish, Alsynite guarantee it will last as long as our other products in normal environment.

7. Is FRP sheets suitable in acidic/alkalis environment?

Alysinte FRP sheets is known for its outstanding surface erosion resistance as we use high quality anti-corrosion film and resin as the coating. Normal 10% acidic and 10% alkalis will have minimum effect on our products. But a 40% of acidic will eat into the FRP sheet.

Its corrosion resistance is also dependent on the height of the roof / distance from corrosive sources and the ventilation of the building.

Our warranties only apply for normal non-contact environment. For corrosive environment needs, please contact Alsynite for further details. With minimum order quantity met and sufficient lead time allocated, Alsynite are able to produce special vinyl ester type of sheets which are more suitable for corrosive environment.

8. Does FRP sheets have the tensile strength needed for wall installation?

The tensile strength of FRP sheets will determine the wind resistance capabilities. A normal tensile strength of a FRP sheets is around 60MPa when it attached to the wall purlin between1.0m~1.5m can produce up to 1KPa of wind resistance. In normal circumstances, the wind pressure is less than 1KPa. Alsynite had surpass this normal figure as our R74’s tensile strength is rated at 94MPa, so it is more than capable to resist normal wind pressure.

In the perspective of a FRP manufacturer, the main properties of a good FRP sheets is the quality of light transmission rate and anti UV ray rating. Tensile strength is normally a sub quality as it only needs to reach 60MPa. 9. Can FRP sheets be installed as all walls?

Alsynite FRP sheets have testimonial from shipyards, logistic centres, waste incineration factories, large storage facilities and many more. The construction of a building walls using FRP sheets is much different from normal steel wall building; special reverse method or fortification works are required if security is important. We have supplied many FRP for building walls and even full FRP roofing and wall claddings, which provides maximum brightness, where consideration have been made for heat factor.
